Types of Birthmarks Print E-mail

There are many different types of vascular birthmarks. They can be congenital (present at birth) or acquired (formed after birth). Vascular Birth Marks (VBM) vary in size, shape and thickness. Birthmarks are either caused by an abnormality in the blood vessel (vascular malformation) OR from overgrowth of cells that make up the vessel eg haemangioma.
